Next Steps for 2022

Berlin is a place that I loved, I love and I’ll love forever. I used to live here for the last 5 years but today is my last day here as a Berliner. I’m relocating to Italy with my family and, to be honest, I’m scared.

It’s not the first time for me. I relocated other times but this time is the most painful one. I’m leaving a city full of friends and it’s painful also for my kids. They were so happy here and I’m scared to not be able to give them the same happiness. But happiness comes first from the family and then from the people around us.

Sunday, October the 10th 2021 I did run the S25 in Berlin. It was my last run. It didn’t work as planned. I mean, I started 33 minutes after the actual start and I did run alone for 16km. But I enjoyed more Berlin alone. I love to be alone on some important, sad or happy, moments of my life.

On the picture above, you can see me running all alone with no one around.

The best part of the S25 was the end. The course itself wasn’t so special but the last 300 meters inside the Olympic Stadium were magic. I’d probably run again the S25 only for those final meters inside the Stadium.

For 2022 I’m planning to take some steps back because I’m increasing the mileage of my workouts and races but I’m not able to progress with the speed. And I guess it’s for 3 reasons: I was not constant with the training in the last 6 months, I restarted my powerlifting training a couple of months back and I’m still dealing with a little pain on the iliac crest left side.

So, my plans until the end of 2022 are:

  • Quit running for some months because it’s too much painful
  • Introduce a better powerlifting and kettlebell routine to gain back my strength.
  • Start a new training plan with TrainerRoad. I guess something to become a better climber, as a good start.
  • Ride the Tour de Zwift 2022
  • Achieve a new PR on the Alpe du Zwift
